Steel Rebar, Wire Rod & Reinforcing Mesh Manufacturing

Steelmaking, continuous billet casting, hot rolling and reinforcement welding form the manufacturing base behind Sino Steel's long-product supply. Production and inspection are coordinated around the grade, dimensions and delivery requirements of each order.

How Our Long Steel Products Are Made

Continuous casting supplies billets for rolling. Straight reinforcing bars and coiled wire rod then follow different mill and finishing routes. Prepared reinforcement wire moves through a separate resistance-welding operation to produce welded mesh.

Steelmaking & Continuous Billet Casting

Grade-specific steel chemistry, casting, billet identification and transfer to rolling.

Rebar RollingBillet heating, rolling stands, cooling bed, shearing and bundled straight bars.
Wire Rod RollingFinishing block, laying head, controlled cooling, coil reforming and tying.
Welded reinforcing mesh is produced on a separate line using prepared longitudinal and transverse reinforcement wire, with sheet or roll finishing according to the ordered mesh.
01 · Steelmaking and casting

Billet Production for Rebar and Wire Rod Mills

Steelmaking begins with the specified chemistry for the ordered grade. Furnace and ladle operations prepare the melt for casting, while billet identification and transfer records carry material identity into the rolling schedule.

In continuous casting, molten steel forms solid billet strands that are cut into lengths suitable for subsequent hot rolling.

Typical equipment along this route
  • Steelmaking furnace and ladle handling
  • Continuous billet casting machine
  • Billet strand cutting equipment
  • Billet roller tables and transfer handling

Hot-Rolled Rebar Production

Billets pass through reheating and successive roughing, intermediate and finishing stands. Roll passes progressively reduce the section and form the required deformations on the finished reinforcing bar.

After rolling, the bars move to a cooling bed. Cold shearing, counting and bundling prepare straight-length rebar for dimensional inspection and batch release.

Main equipment in the rebar rolling route
  • Billet reheating furnace
  • Roughing and intermediate mill stands
  • Finishing stands, guides and roller tables
  • Rebar cooling bed
  • Cold shear and bar counting
  • Bundling and strapping equipment

High-Speed Wire Rod Rolling & Coil Finishing

Wire rod production uses rolling stands and a high-speed finishing section to achieve the required round section. Downstream guides, a laying head and a controlled cooling conveyor form and cool successive rings before coil collection.

At the finishing area, coils are reformed, compacted and tied for identification and handling. Grade, surface condition, diameter and coil presentation are confirmed against the agreed supply specification.

Equipment across the wire rod finishing route
  • Roughing and intermediate rolling stands
  • High-speed finishing block
  • Pinch rolls and laying head
  • Controlled cooling conveyor
  • Coil reforming and transfer equipment
  • Coil compactor and tying station

04 · Reinforcement mesh

Automatic Welded Reinforcing Mesh Production

Prepared longitudinal and transverse reinforcement wires enter the mesh line through straightening, feeding and positioning equipment. Resistance-welding electrodes join the intersections at the specified wire spacing.

Finished mesh advances to cutting and stacking stations for sheet orders. Suitable wire sizes and mesh designs can be prepared for roll supply using the corresponding winding and handling equipment.

Equipment used in mesh manufacture
  • Longitudinal wire payoff and straightening
  • Cross-wire feeding and positioning
  • Multi-point resistance welding unit
  • Mesh indexing and advance equipment
  • Mesh shearing and sheet stacking
  • Roll handling for suitable mesh products

Quality Checks Linked to Each Production Lot

Mill inspection follows the material from steel grade control through finished size, surface condition and mechanical testing. Rebar, wire rod and welded mesh each have inspection points suited to their product form and specification.

Rebar DimensionsNominal size, section profile and straightness
Wire Rod ChecksDiameter, surface and coil condition
Mesh InspectionWire spacing, dimensions and weld performance

MTC documentation can accompany agreed orders. Customer inspection and third-party review by SGS, BV or TÜV may be arranged to the purchase requirements.

Manufacturing to dispatch

Finished Steel Prepared for Bulk Orders

Straight rebar bundles, wire rod coils and welded mesh are managed as separate handling units after production. Each lot is matched with its product specification, inspection basis and shipment requirements.

Stock planning and packing schedules support distributor replenishment and project deliveries. Cutting and bending services can also be coordinated for approved reinforcement schedules.
